The German Literature Archive in Marbach, the Klassik Stiftung in Weimar and the Herzog August Library in Wolfenbüttel bring together half a millennium in the history of German and European literature, culture and ideas. They collect, preserve and make available material evidence while also studying long-term transformations in Germany’s cultural heritage.
As centers of humanities research, the three institutions have cooperated at different levels since 1990. On the recommendation of the Wissenschaftsrat (The German Council of Science and the Humanities), the three institutions are now combining their activities in a research association funded by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research.
