WeimarÔÇÖs self-presentation in urban development
during the ┬╗golden age┬ź

At the end of the 18th century, the ducal house felt pressure to adapt the appearance of Weimar to its new cultural fame. The tour is intended to show how the Weimar court as well as several wealthy citizens re-designed squares and buildings between 1770 and 1830 for the sake of their own self-portrayal.

Franz Liszt ÔÇô a European in Weimar's ┬╗Silver Era┬ź

For a long time, the predominating perception of Weimar as a ┬╗Classics City┬ź has led to the fact that most visitors are hardly aware of the cityÔÇÖs second heyday beginning in the mid-19th century ÔÇô and that this heyday had less to do with literature than with music culture. Our walk begins with Liszt and ends with Liszt. At the same time we will also meet up with different, also famous contemporaries of LisztÔÇÖs, and broaden our view to include the cultural atmosphere in Weimar during that time.
