The Klassik Stiftung Weimar is a public foundation and non-profit organisation. It is managed by the President, who is also the foundation’s spokesperson. The highest decision-making board is the foundation board, which makes rulings on all of the Stiftung’s basic aims and affairs insofar as the foundation law does not make these the responsibility of the President. The scientific advisory board supports the work of the President and the departments as well as advising the foundation board.

The following departments report to the President directly:

  • Research and education
  • Communication, public relations, marketing

The Klassik Stiftung Weimar is also divided into the following five departments:

  • Administration
  • Castles, gardens and buildings
  • Museums
  • Goethe and Schiller Archive
  • Duchess Anna Amalia Library

The Klassik Stiftung Weimar currently employs 420 personnel (as for January 2018):

  • 256 full-time employees
  • 164 project workers, trainees etc.

Any required funds in excess of those earned by the Klassik Stiftung Weimar itself are granted by the government, the Free State of Thuringia and the City of Weimar.
