Our tours, audio and media guides introduce you to Weimar and its many museums.
In addition to our regular public tours, we offer special tours to groups. In many of our museums, you can borrow audio and media guides with which you can discover the exhibitions on your own. We also invite you to actively participate in our open workshops!
Our regular public tours are intended for individual visitors. These one-hour tours introduce you to selected items and historical figures, and vibrantly portray the cultural-historical contexts of the times.
The historical pianos of the Klassik Stiftung Weimar come to life under the hands of accomplished pianists who present the musical experience of the 18th and 19th century in authentic settings. Musicologists explain how the acoustic aesthetics of the piano have evolved over the centuries and what role music played in cultural life of the Goethe era.

Audio guides are available in almost every museum of the Klassik Stiftung Weimar. The lending fee is included in the price of admission to the respective museum.

Our theme-based tours provide an optimal way to become familiar with certain aspects of Weimar’s cultural history.
This tour is especially suited as an introduction to Weimar Classicism. The tour takes you from the Weimar City Castle through the Park on the Ilm to the Goethe Gartenhaus, where you will learn how Weimar Classicism began. (Duration: 90 min.)
This tour presents the beginnings of modernism in Weimar starting with the “New Weimar” movement around 1900 and culminating with the Bauhaus in 1919. The tour begins at the Nietzsche-Archiv (including a tour of the archive itself), continues to the former Art School building and concludes at the former Bauhaus museum on Theaterplatz. (Duration: 90 min., bookable from April to October)
More than 100 years of history, two museums and 90 minutes to see everything. In this guided tour, we introduce you to the highlights of the Neues Museum Weimar and the Bauhaus Museum Weimar. We take you on a grand tour of modernism in Weimar starting in 1860, leading to the turn of the century, and ending in 1919 when the Bauhaus was founded. (Duration: 90 min.)
This tour examines the developments in Weimar from 1800 to the present. The route takes you to the historical landmarks of Weimar Classicism and the commemorative sites of National Socialism and concludes with a visit of the Wittumspalais. (Duration: 90 min.)
