European Seminar

Are you a student of one of the many German Schools around the world and wish to learn more about Weimar Classicism?

Then we invite you to come to Weimar for two weeks and participate in our European Seminar. Here you will have the chance join other pupils from all over the world and discuss the culture and literature at the turn of the 19th century and its impact on the following generations.

To be eligible for the seminar, you should be able to write and speak German proficiently, possess an interest in the humanities, and of course, like to work independently. In preparation for the seminar, you are expected to conduct preliminary research in your home country, for example, on the importance of Goethe or Schiller, or the status of your own national poets, so that the seminar can generate a truly European dialogue.

The guided tours are held in German.

The European Seminar is offered every two years in cooperation with the Friends of the Duchess Anna Amalia Library and the Weimar-Jena Academy, and is funded by the Allianz Kulturstiftung.
