Joint projects with schools

The Klassik Stiftung Weimar has signed agreements of cooperation with numerous schools to systematically integrate Weimar as an extracurricular place of learning into secondary school curricula with regard to various subjects of interest.

Christian-Ernst-Gymnasium Erlangen

The Klassik Stiftung Weimar and the Christian-Ernst-Gymnasium in Erlangen organise various educational projects in order to develop and test new forms of collaboration between schools and Weimar as a place of learning. Combining literary, art and music history is one of the central aims of these projects. The joint partnership, established in 2016, places emphasis on the area of teacher training and teacher internships. The cooperation agreement with the Christian-Ernst-Gymnasium came about due to its status as a “seminar school”, or teacher training academy.

Christian von Bomhard School in Uffenheim

The Klassik Stiftung Weimar and the Christian von Bomhard Foundation (responsible for the Christian von Bomhard School in Uffenheim) have been working together since 2010 with the goal of firmly establishing Weimar as a place of extracurricular learning and enhancing the profile of both institutions. The collaboration was the first to develop an educational model of extracurricular learning which not only involved a single excursion, but aimed to intensively interlink both places of learning at several grade levels.

Otto Hahn Gymnasium in Göttingen

This partnership with the Otto Hahn Gymnasium in Göttingen, established in 2012, offers project-oriented excursions which highlight the multifaceted character of Weimar. The excursions are integrated into compulsory elective instruction, a workshop on ›Weimar‹ and in professional orientation in everyday school life. The instruction places particular emphasis on historical pieces of literature, art and music in Weimar. By exploring these works, the pupils are able to develop a more comprehensive understanding of German and European culture.

Collège Episcopal Saint-Etienne Strasbourg and Grimmelshausen Gymnasium in Offenburg

The Klassik Stiftung Weimar established this joint programme with the Collège Episcopal in Strasbourg and the Grimmelshausen Gymnasium in Offenburg in 2013. As part of the educational model project ›Weimarpedia‹, the two partner schools intensively collaborate on a week-long project in Weimar once a year and, in so doing, have improved intercultural dialogue at the same time. Both schools wish to continue developing their existing partnership and enhancing their individual profiles.

Gymnasium Syke

Gymnasium Syke has cooperated with the Klassik Stiftung Weimar since 2014. The central objective of the partnership is to interlink both places of learning at several grade levels. The programme establishes Weimar as the exclusive destination for excursions for grades 8, 11 and 12. The excursions for pupils in the secondary level I (grade 8) have an interdisciplinary character and are incorporated into the ›Weimarpedia‹ project. The excursions at the secondary level II (grades 11 and 12) are offered as part of a ›seminar subject‹.

Theodor Heuss Gymnasium School for Europe

The Klassik Stiftung Weimar established a partnership with the Theodor Heuss Gymnasium School for Europe in 2014 in order to adapt the Cicerone Programme to the 11th-grade level and quickly modify the format to meet the demands of a rapidly changing school structure. The programme, whose thematic focus is the literary history of Weimar Classicism, offers a Studium Generale, during which the pupils are introduced to literary and cultural scientific research and working methods.
