The library is constantly adding to its collection of works on literary and cultural history focusing particularly on German literature dated back around year 1800. Other segments in its acquisition profile include literature on the Faust material, Franz Liszt, publications by and about Friedrich Nietzsche and Shakespeare’s reception in Germany. Since the library fire in 2004, the library’s acquisition activities have also included the replacement of historic prints.
Our list of new acquisitions provides information about the flow of additions to the library’s collection. It lists the acquisitions made over the last five calendar months divided into eight extensive subject groups.
You can see the newly acquired books in the New Arrivals shelves on the ground floor of the study centre opposite the information desk.
The exhibition series New in the Library, which opened in 2017, features some of the most recent book acquisitions presented in display cases in the foyer of the Study Centre and Historic Building.
