The Klassik Stiftung Weimar’s museums reflect the diversity of Weimar’s cultural history. While the poets’ museums are dedicated to the poets themselves and to the era of Weimar classicism, the valuable ducal art collection is on display in the city castle. The Bauhaus Museum documents the advent of modernity, and the 20th century art collection in the Neues Museum is supplemented by temporary exhibitions. The tunnel system around the Park Cave allows visitors to discover human and geological history underground.

The museum department’s user service provides a facility enabling users to search in the electronic database for items on display in the Klassik Stiftung Weimar’s museums and to obtain detailed information about individual exhibits. The database corresponds with the records currently held by the museums, while the online catalogue on our website is only an extract from these.

The user service helps you with your research and allows you to use the work library of the museums department. It is also possible to contact the persons responsible for the collection if so required.

You may view selected parts of Goethe’s art collections provided you can supply evidence of your scientific interest and register beforehand in the study rooms area of the Goethe National Museum.

Bauhaus Museum Weimar & Graphic Collections

We are looking forward to opening the Bauhaus Museum Weimar in 2019 and thus kindly ask for your understanding that we will not be able to make any works belonging to the collection available for loans until 2020. Until 2024 we will also undertake the relocation of our Graphic Collections into their new underground depository at the City Castle. We are sorry for not being able to lend objects of this collections until the move is completed.
