During and following the years of National Socialism, the former institutions which now belong to the Klassik Stiftung Weimar today, acquired cultural assets which had been illegally confiscated by the Nazis. The Klassik Stiftung Weimar is now systematically investigating the provenance of these works and seeking fair and just solutions with their legitimate owners.
Since November 2015 the Klassik Stiftung Weimar has presented a mobile display case to inform visitors about these ongoing activities. The case is displayed rotationally in the foyers and lobbies of the collection-holding institutions of the Klassik Stiftung Weimar. It contains various objects identified as Nazi-confiscated property, sheds light on the fates of their former owners and documents the investigative methods of the provenance researchers.
