MelosLogos

Poetic song festival in Weimar

MelosLogos, the poetic song festival in Weimar, highlighted the connection between poetry and music which was strongly cultivated during the era of Weimar Classicism. Weimar is not only a place of literature; it has strong ties to musical traditions as well: Johann Sebastian Bach, Franz Liszt, Richard Strauss, to name just a few examples.

At the MelosLogos festival, outstanding artists enthusiastically dared to experiment, to venture beyond the bounds of the standard canon. In past years, the guest artists have included Juliane Banse, Anja Silja, Dietrich Fischer-Dieskau, András Schiff, Imre Kertész, Udo Samel, Jutta Lampe, Bruno Ganz and many more.

The small format of the MelosLogos festival offered audiences a unique opportunity to enjoy four to five events and encounter the artists in Weimar in an intimate atmosphere.

The programme featured well-known pieces in new contexts, rediscovered works and artistic performances of the highest quality.
