Locker Rules

Regulation for the use of lockers in the museums and houses of the Klassik Stiftung Weimar

§ 1 Scope of usage

(1) The Klassik Stiftung Weimar (hereafter referred to as the “Foundation”) provides lockers in its museums and historic sites so that visitors can store their coats and personal belongings for the duration of their visit.

(2) Visitors are not entitled to the use of a locker.

(3) Lockers are not to be used for storing money, valuables, official papers, animals, easily perishable or dangerous items and materials, open beverages or food containers.

(4) The locking mechanism is activated by the user with the insertion of a coin for deposit.

§ 2 Liability

(1) Visitors use the lockers at their own risk.

(2) Before using a locker, the visitor should examine whether it is in proper condition and ascertain whether it is indeed locked after removing the key.

(3) The Foundation assumes no liability for the personal items stowed inside the lockers.

§ 3 Usage period

(1) The lockers remain accessible to visitors during the museum’s respective opening hours. All personal items must be removed from the lockers no later than the closing time of the respective museum or by the end of the event.

(2) Lockers may not be used for extended periods lasting several days at a time.

§ 4 Due diligence

(1) Lockers should be handled properly. Users should take care to prevent them from getting damaged or soiled.

(2) All items must be removed from the lockers after usage. Users should leave lockers in a condition that allows others to use them immediately thereafter.

§ 5 Unemptied lockers and unauthorised usage

(1) If a locker is not emptied by the end of the usage period or is used without authorisation, the Foundation is entitled to open and empty the locker. Moreover, the Foundation is not required to issue an order to empty the locker or advance notice of its intention to do so.

(2) When an unemptied locker is opened by the museum staff, a written protocol is made, documenting the date, time, reason for opening, the individuals present during opening, a list of the items inside and their respective condition.

(3) The removed items are treated as lost property and kept for four weeks starting from the day the locker was opened at the Property Management Dept. (Liegenschaftsmanagement), Burgplatz 4, 99423 Weimar. Perishables are discarded.

(4) In order to reclaim one’s personal items, the owner must present an official ID or passport and the respective locker key. The owner must also confirm the receipt of the items by signing the protocol completed at the time the locker was opened.

(5) Should the owner fail to reclaim their personal belongings after four weeks, the items are transferred to Weimar’s lost-and-found office.

(6) Any liability claims by the user against the Foundation for the replacement of these items is excluded.

§ 6 Opening a locker due to the loss of the key

(1) If the user loses the key to their locker, the user must inform the staff at the ticket counter of the respective museum.

(2) Unauthorised attempts to forcibly open the lockers are prohibited.

(3) Before the staff member of the Foundation opens the locker, the user must present their official ID or passport and provide details about the contents of the locker. The personal information and details on the locker’s contents is recorded in writing and signed by the user. Only then can the locker be opened.

(4) The contents and their condition are documented in writing. If these match the user’s description, the items are handed over to the owner.

(5) If the user’s official ID or passport is locked inside the locker, the staff asks the user for their personal information, notes it in the protocol and, upon opening the locker, compares it with the documents inside.

(6) If the items inside do not match those described by the purported owner, the items are taken to the Property Management Dept., Burgplatz 4, 99423 Weimar where they remain until ownership is adequately verified or for a period of four weeks, after which time they are transferred to Weimar’s lost-and-found office.

§ 7 Cost of opening a locker

(1) The user is charged and liable to pay all costs incurred by the Foundation to open a locker due to the user’s failure to empty it as required, for its unauthorised use, or the loss of the key. These charges include the price of replacing keys and lock cylinders.

(2) If it is necessary to open a locker due to unauthorised use or failure to empty it within the usage period, but the user returns the key within one week, the Foundation charges the user a fixed fee of 15 euros (incl. sales tax) for the trouble the user has caused.

(3) Should the user lose the key or fail to return the key within one week, the Foundation charges the user a fixed fee of 60 euros (incl. sales tax).

§ 8 Acceptance of terms

By using a locker of the Klassik Stiftung Weimar, the user automatically accepts the terms of usage provided above as binding.

§ 9 Gender equality clause

All references to persons mentioned in these rules of usage apply to both male, female and non-binary identifying individuals to an equal degree.

§ 10 Coming into force

These rules of usage come into force upon their public presentation on the notice board.
