Directorate of Castles, Gardens and Buildings

This directorate and its departments of Construction and preservation of monuments, Gardens and Property Management are responsible for managing and maintaining the grounds and buildings of the Klassik Stiftung Weimar.

Its tasks include the continual care and maintenance of the properties, carrying out renovation and restoration measures, and overseeing new construction projects.

The properties, castles and buildings used for general administrative purposes and presenting and storing museum, archival and library holdings, as well as the large parks and house gardens are registered cultural landmarks from various historical eras. The core area of its activities serve to safeguard the UNESCO World Heritage Site “Classical Weimar”. Its expert staff prepares and supervises conservatorial measures in consultation with architects, landscape architects, engineers, assessors and conservators, and carries out the corresponding project monitoring and documentation.
