Research and publications

Scientific research at the museums is part of the goals laid down in the research and education concept of the Klassik Stiftung Weimar. The benchmark for museums is the close connection between collection-related and theory-based and university research. Research in the museum initially concerns the scientific processing of collection objects and groups of objects. This requires the contextualization of the history of the object with regard to its origin and historical functions, the stylistic classification, the iconographic and iconological interpretation as well as the investigation of the history of reception.

Projects of the Klassik Stiftung Weimar are funded by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) and the Free State of Thuringia, represented by the State Chancellery of Thuringia, Department of Culture and the Arts.
