Projects of the Klassik Stiftung Weimar are funded by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) and the Free State of Thuringia, represented by the State Chancellery of Thuringia, Department of Culture and the Arts.
How can cultural institutions such as the Klassik Stiftung Weimar engage with the public in new ways and strengthen cooperation with local society?
The aims of the project “Ent|Schlossen” were to build partnerships, reimagine the public space in front of the museum, and develop cargo bikes that can serve as outreach tools. Central to the project was the architecture of the Co-Labor. An experimental space in front of the castle, which is currently closed for renovation. Here we were able to test new educational programmes, engage with local groups and run an open space to welcome the general public.
On the basis of this experience, we have produced a project summary of our key findings and learnings. The publication is aimed at all those working in museums and other cultural institutions. We hope it will inspire and encourage you to try new ways of engaging with the public.
