Projects of the Klassik Stiftung Weimar are funded by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) and the Free State of Thuringia, represented by the State Chancellery of Thuringia, Department of Culture and the Arts.

In the following, we present apps and websites created in our projects which can be used for preparing and following up a visit to Weimar. You can find additional media-based materials in our service area.
With our free online courses, you and your students can conveniently start learning about Weimar Classicism in the classroom. The digital courses offer a motivating introduction and engaging, playful learning units on this important era. The courses can be used flexibly as preparation for an excursion or as part of regular lessons. When you book, a closed course room is set up that allows you to create your own text productions and works on both PCs and tablets via a browser. You will receive written instructions on how to create access data for your students and use the Moodle platform.
We currently offer two online courses with different thematic focuses.
Literature around 1800 – Perspectives through Goethe's Faust (recommended for upper secondary school)
Faust? Faust! This course examines various perspectives on literature around 1800 through Goethe's Faust. Learners can choose between three levels of depth: “Times of crisis – productive literature,” “New forms in drama and theater,” and “Literature for a new society,” allowing them to approach the topic individually.
People of Weimar Classicism (recommended from grade 9)
This course offers an introduction to Weimar Classicism. Learners can choose between four areas of specialization: “Nature,” “Friendship,” “Gender Roles,” and “Media Change,” allowing them to approach the topic in a way that suits them best.
Duration: 90 minutes, free of charge, unlimited number of participants
Recommended for grades 9-13
Requirements for the course: Digital device and headphones per participant, stable internet connection

Use the Weimar+ app to explore the sites of modernism and our historical parks and gardens. With audio tours through the exhibitions, an interactive map, event info and numerous audio/video features, you can discover Weimar Classicism and modernism at your own pace. Tours for children are also offered at the Bauhaus Museum and Museum Neues Weimar. We recommend downloading the app prior to your visit.
Save the Park!
Have fun exploring the Park on the Ilm with the game “Save the Park!” which presents you with riddles at various locations in the park. Short audio clips provide background and historic facts about these sites. And all the while, you must constantly combat demons trying to rob the plants of their energy!
The game in the Weimar+ app (in the “Park on the Ilm” section) is suitable for children 10 years and older. To play the game, children need a smartphone or tablet.

The educational programme “Youpedia” is a project designed by young people for young people. Participants provide new information and creative products which can be located via a city map of Weimar. To view and learn more about its projects, visit youpedia.de.



bauhaus-machen.de is a digital education platform operated by the Bauhaus institutions in Weimar, Dessau and Berlin. It offers teachers and art educators extensive working materials and instructions for exercises – and not only about the Bauhaus, but also overarching topics from the fields of art, architecture, design and society. Tailored to various age groups, local circumstances and educational goals, bauhaus-machen.de contains classroom-tested and inspirational video tutorials, project descriptions and worksheets. The downloadable materials are available to teachers and educators at no charge. The number of programmes and services offered by bauhaus-machen.de is steadily expanding.
