An opportunity to discover and understand cultural history: In our several-day educational projects, adolescents can intensively explore selected themes from Weimar Classicism to National Socialism to modernism.
During these several-day programmes, pupils gain a fundamental understanding of cultural-historic contexts and familiarise themselves with various aspects in independent learning phases. In addition to acquiring new insights, the projects focus on building self-competence and encourage methodological skill-building.
Toolbox principle: In addition to the several-day projects presented below, our short formats (tours, seminars, project days, independent expeditions) can also be assembled into customised multiple-day programmes. These learning modules are ideally suited to build on previous knowledge and allow pupils to explore thematically relevant aspects.
Expeditions in culture and history. An online platform by young people for young people.
How can young people today learn about culture and history on their own? What types of media do they use? In the several-day educational project “Youpedia”, pupils are invited to approach Weimar’s cultural history in their own way by using tablets and doing research on the web. During their stay in Weimar, the pupils are given theme-oriented tours and research topics of their own choosing. Later in small groups, they work together to develop a presentation in the form of a radio play, film or a text-image narrative. The final products are then posted on the website Youpedia.de and serve as an educative medium for other young people.

Youpedia is an interstate project and is working to expand to other locations and regions which are interested in using the online platform for their own educational projects. For more information, click here here.
The Cicerone Studium Generale offers an introduction and fascinating immersive experience into the period of Weimar Classicism. The running theme of the entire course is the friendship between Goethe and Schiller. The project consists of in-depth tours and seminars, accompanied by independent working phases at the library. At the end of the excursion, the pupils present their (preliminary) results to the rest of the group.
The annual summer academy builds on the pupils’ achievements in the Cicerone Studium Generale.
