Our theme-based tours are ideal for introducing students to a variety of themes. You can also book general tours (30/60 minutes) for almost all museums, castles and parks operated by the Klassik Stiftung Weimar.

The tour introduces pupils to the era of Weimar Classicism, taking them from the Weimar City Castle through the Park on the Ilm to the Goethe Gartenhaus where they learn how Weimar Classicism began. The discussion focuses on new forms of social recreation and the design of the park. We also describe the blossoming friendship between Goethe and the young Duke Carl August, as well as Goethe’s accomplishments as minister.
This tour examines the developments in Weimar from 1800 to the present. The route takes participants to the historical landmarks of Weimar Classicism and the commemorative sites of National Socialism. During the tour, we discuss the fundamental ideas and images of humankind which were popular during the age of Weimar Classicism, the 19th century and the years of National Socialism. Questions about the culture of remembrance and commemoration form a thematic arc to the present day.

This tour takes you back to Weimar at the beginning of the 20th century and highlights cultural developments with respect to their political and social context. We introduce you to Henry van de Velde’s Arts and Crafts Seminar, we let you revisit the founding of the Bauhaus and the Weimar Republic, and explain the ambitions of the National Socialists in Weimar. On a walk through the “Quarter of Weimar Modernism”, we show you how the town is currently handling its multifaceted past.
