Go on a journey of discovery in the museum or on an exploration tour in our park cave.

How are chairs, tables, and jewelry designed? How were pictures painted in the past? And how did craftsmen work? Discover art and design around 1900 at the Museum Neues Weimar and then create your own object.

Select a workshop:

• Bookbinding: Would you like to bind your own book and emboss it in gold? Would you like to gild your own postcard?
• Prints: Prints are created that, thanks to self-made clipboards, become stylish design objects for your white walls at home.
• Leather objects: Whether it's a phone case, bracelet, or earrings: create your own leather artwork!

Duration: 120 min.

Cost: 105€+ museum admission for adults

Max. 10 participants (plus adults)

Tip: Feel free to bring your own birthday cake, snacks, and drinks. Refreshments are also available for purchase at our on-site café on weekends.

Stone Age adventure in the park cave

Want to explore Earth's history and solve tricky puzzles? Then come with us to the park cave, 12 meters underground. Discover the naturalist Goethe, extinct animals, and meet a Neanderthal! Those who crack the code word using the HANDS ON! booklet can then experience one of the following adventures:

• Treasure hunt in the tunnel system: After your independent exploration, experts will accompany you on a treasure hunt in the secret tunnel system

  Duration: approx. 60 minutes (HANDS ON! Booklet followed by a guided tour of the mine)
  When? Friday and Saturday, 1:30 p.m.

  Cost: €35 admission for adults

  Maximum 10 participants (including adults)

  Tip: From July onwards and in good weather, use the large stone table in the park above ground for a snack afterward.
   

• Research Workshop at the Museum of Pre- and Ancient History: After exploring the park cave on your own, a research workshop awaits you at the Museum of Pre- and Ancient History. Here, you'll learn about the early Neanderthals in Weimar, how they lived, and what they might have eaten. Afterwards, you can create your own fossil.

  Duration: approx. 120 minutes (HANDS ON! booklet, walk to the Museum of Pre- and Ancient History, workshop)
  When? Friday and Saturday, 2:00 PM - Request a date for the subsequent workshop (3:00 PM) and group information at least 14 days in advance by calling +49 361 57 3223 331 or emailing museum@tlda.thueringen.de

  Cost: €50 workshop fee (plus adult admission to the park cave)
