Gesellschaft Anna Amalia Bibliothek e.V.

The Gesellschaft Anna Amalia Bibliothek e.V. was founded in 2003 to promote the activities of the Herzogin Anna Amalia Bibliothek. More than 400 members from Germany and around the world belong to the association. Following the devastating fire that ravaged the Historic Library in 2004, the association provided donations to replace lost items and support the restoration efforts. Today it supports a wide range of projects at the Herzogin Anna Amalia Bibliothek, including provenance research, book acquisitions, exhibitions, academic events, publications and European seminars for secondary-school pupils.

The association produces a magazine for its members entitled “SupraLibros”, featuring an annual report and in-depth insights into the activities and holdings of the internationally renowned archive and research library. Each year, its board of directors organises excursions for its members to other libraries.
