Do you have an idea for an event at the Co-Labor? We look forward to your suggestions! Send us an email at co-labor@klassik-stiftung.de.

To ensure that the event fits well with the Co-Labor, here are a few tips:

Open to everyone – Anyone can participate – as a visitor or co-creator.

Outdoors & with potential for encounters – Events should ideally take place outside and invite random passers-by to join in.

Space for groups – The interior space is available to closed groups by arrangement.

Free of charge & non-commercial – The Co-Labor is a space for exchange, not for sales or advertising.

Promoting encounters – The aim is to bring different people together – through conversation, joint activities, or creative formats.

Small & personal – Instead of large events, we are looking for events on a manageable, personal scale.

Building

The Co-Labor is built entirely from wood sourced from the park on the Ilm and Belvedere Park. The trees had to be felled due to drought, beetle infestation, or storm damage. This wood has found a new use as a Co-Labor. The wooden pavilion was built in 2021 as part of the “New Nature” theme year at the Tempelherrenhaus and moved to the forecourt of the castle in 2022. The Co-Labor on Schlossplatz is based on the theme year “New Nature,” which was funded by the ERDF, and the project “Ent|Schlossen” (2022-2024), and was financed by the Federal Government Commissioner for Culture and the Media. The basic program is currently co-funded by Lotto-Thüringen.

The wooden pavilion was designed and built by the architectural firm "Studio Booom". It is built entirely of wood from damaged felled trees that grew in nearby parks (Park an der Ilm and Park Belvedere). Through the Co-Labor the timber is already being reused for the second time, as it was previously used for the Green Labor

Future

The Co-Labor is a testing ground for future participation and educational offerings at Weimar City Palace. The palace has been undergoing extensive renovation since 2018. The reopening of the east wing is planned for the end of 2026. The remaining areas of the palace will follow gradually in the years thereafter. With the reopening of the palace, the Co-Labor's offerings will find a permanent home in the palace, replacing the temporary space from 2027 onwards.
