The Database Infosystem DBIS
The Database Infosystem DBIS helps you navigate through the jungle of Internet databases. DBIS offers users the following advantages:
- selection of over 10,000 databases, 5,000 of which are freely accessible online
- divided into subject areas
- possible to search for specific databases
- professional cooperative service of scientific libraries
The databases which are licensed by the Herzogin Anna Amalia Bibliothek can be accessed via the intranet of the Klassik Stiftung Weimar, for example, in the Study Centre. These databases are listed on the Database Infosystem DBIS and our own online catalogue. A link on each description page directs you to the respective database.

- Deutsches Biographisches Archiv. Short biographies from numerous reference works published in the German-speaking and cultural regions between the 18th and 21st century. - Deutsches Literatur-Lexikon Online: Over 70,000 articles, extensive information on German-language authors from the Middle Ages to the present, searchable by name, title, genre, biographical data, secondary authors and research literature. With its focus on contemporary literature, this database ideally supplements the Verfasser-Datenbank which largely contains data on authors from the Middle Ages to the early modern era. - Deutsches Wörterbuch von Jakob und Wilhelm Grimm im Internet. Contains vocabulary and foreign loan words which were commonly used in modern High German writings from the 15th century to the present. The dictionary provides the etymologies and various word forms and describes their geographical dissemination within the German speaking area. (freely accessible online)
