Filming Regulations

The following regulations apply for filming at any of the properties managed by Klassik Stiftung Weimar:

  1. Klassik Stiftung Weimar must be acknowledged at an appropriate place in the resulting film (such as in the credits or in an accompanying text).
  2. The use of footage for purposes outside those approved by Klassik Stiftung Weimar, as well as the transfer of footage to third parties, requires the permission of the press office. An additional fee may apply.
  3. Filming in the historical buildings of Klassik Stiftung Weimar may not take place without supervision. In some cases (such as filming outside scheduled opening times), the costs for attendant staff will be billed.
  4. To prevent damage to the historical flooring within the buildings, all equipment that comes into contact with them (such as camera tripods, light stands, cases and accessories) must be fitted with castors, rubber feet, or similar protective materials.
  5. Any lighting used in the filming may not generate heat or emit UV radiation. Lights must have low-temperature bulbs that use a UV filter or emit light blocked in the UV range.
  6. Historical objects in building interiors (shelves, tables, chairs, busts, paintings, etc.) may not be touched or moved.
  7. Eating or drinking in historical buildings is not permitted.
  8. Images of collection objects and archival materials and/or still photos of interiors can be acquired for a fee from the foundation’s Fotothek or from the Goethe and Schiller Archive.
  9. The use of special equipment or materials such as backdrops must be approved by the press office.
  10. If tracking shots are needed, cameras dollies must be outfitted with rubber wheels and tracks must be elevated on tripods with rubber feet. Generally, it is not possible to lay tracks directly on the floor.
  11. The use of drones or special-effect materials (such as dry ice) is not permitted in historical interiors.
  12. If a separate area is needed on site for catering or make-up, please let us know in advance so that we can plan accordingly.
  13. Streets shoes are not permitted in some historical rooms. In these cases, museum-provided slippers must be worn.
  14. When filming in the parks of Klassik Stiftung Weimar, park regulations must be observed.
  15. Exterior drone shots of Klassik Stiftung Weimar buildings are possible only under certain conditions and when good justification can be provided. All exterior drone shots require the approval and supervision of the press office.

In the event of non-compliance with any of these regulations, the Klassik Stiftung Weimar reserves the right to revoke filming permission.

Projects of the Klassik Stiftung Weimar are funded by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) and the Free State of Thuringia, represented by the State Chancellery of Thuringia, Department of Culture and the Arts.
