Historical Gardens and Climate Change

special exhibition

Climate change poses an unprecedented challenge to our historical parks and gardens. In this exhibition, we present several possibilities to minimise the impact of climate change.

The Klassik Stiftung Weimar is a member of the action group “Historical Gardens and Climate Change”, a joint initiative by the German Association of Garden Art and Landscaping Culture and the Association of German Castles and Gardens. The project serves to bundle the members’ competence and expertise in cultivating, studying and publicly presenting historical gardens.

The exhibition in the north wing of the Belvedere Orangery features exemplary measures taken by the Castle and Gardens department to counter the effects of climate change. These include solutions for safeguarding existing trees, cultural environmental education projects and measures to protect and preserve historical park paths.
