Anny und Sibel Öztürk: Marta und Benita

special exhibition

To mark the 100th anniversary of the Haus Am Horn, artists Anny and Sibel Öztürk have created two installations for downtown Weimar. They were inspired by the historical textile works designed by Marta Erps-Breuer and Benita Koch-Otte.

The artists Anny and Sibel Öztürk highlight the upcoming centennial by bringing a piece of the historic Haus Am Horn and the Bauhaus to Weimar’s downtown. Inspired by the carpets produced by the Bauhaus students Marta Erps-Breuer and Benita Koch-Otte, they have created two installations which translate the fabric patterns into three-dimensional space. With these artistic places of encounter installed on the plazas in front of the Bauhaus Museum and the Museum Neues Weimar, the two artists refer to their own family experiences and highlight the history of female emancipation which is closely interwoven with occupations in the arts and crafts.
