The lifestyle magazine from Weimar that influenced the world of fashion and consumer goods around 1800
This exhibition showcases the famous lifestyle magazine published by Friedrich Justin Bertuch. The first edition of the “Journal des Luxus und der Moden” (Journal of Luxury and Fashion) appeared in 1786 and strongly influenced tastes and trends far beyond Weimar. The exhibition presents the journal as an outstanding source of interior design, fashion and consumer behaviour around 1800. It also serves as the starting point for a tour of the historical residences of the Klassik Stiftung Weimar, where a number of items advertised in the journal are still on display today.
