Visitor Rules

We kindly ask you to observe the following rules:

  1. The museum staff is authorised to check admission tickets, special permits and entitlements to reduced prices. Please follow the instructions of our service team.
  2. Bulky or sharp-edged objects, e.g. briefcases and photo cases, large cameras, tripods, canes, umbrellas of all sizes, as well as rucksacks and bags (larger than 20 × 30 × 10 cm) must be stowed away in the cloakroom to prevent unintentional damage to the exhibits; walking aids, walkers and wheelchairs are exempted from this rule.
  3. Please conduct yourself in an orderly and appropriate manner while in the museum. Visitors are not allowed to touch the exhibits. Eating, drinking and telephoning in the museum rooms is not permitted. Smoking is strictly prohibited throughout the entire museum.
  4. Teachers and educators are asked to accompany and supervise their school classes during their visit to the museum.
  5. Guided tours of our museums may only be conducted by the staff of the Klassik Stiftung Weimar or licenced individuals authorised by the Foundation to give such tours (with prior registration).
  6. The Klassik Stiftung Weimar permits visitors to take photos inside its museums and historic sites during regular opening hours for private use and only in publicly accessible areas. Photography is not permitted in special exhibitions. The use of flashes, auxiliary lighting and tripods is prohibited. When taking photos of exhibits, please show consideration to other visitors and respect their privacy and that of the service team. The Klassik Stiftung Weimar does not charge fees for private photos. Filming and photo permits for press purposes are issued by the Press Office of the Klassik Stiftung Weimar, (tel. +49 3643 | 545-113; presse@klassik-stiftung.de).   7. Please return any lost items you find to the staff at the ticket counter.
  8. Animals are not allowed inside the museums of the Klassik Stiftung Weimar. This rule excludes assistance and guide dogs for visitors with disabilities.
  9. A restricted admission policy applies to some museums for reasons of monument preservation. The admission procedures are determined by the service team.

We remind you that the historic sites of the Klassik Stiftung Weimar are not illuminated with electric lighting. Consequently, this may result in impaired visibility depending on the local weather conditions.

Special rules apply to the Goethe- und Schiller-Archiv and the Park Cave.
