In this project day, students learn more about the author and his “Faust I.” After an introduction to Goethe's work, the students work in small groups to examine a key scene of their choice in depth and translate it into a comic.

Using the example of the Weimar Faust collection, the question of how literary figures become canonical and later elements of pop culture is examined. In a subsequent work unit, the students deal in depth with specific topics such as “Faust in the visual arts” or “Faust in contemporary popular culture.”
Both the stellwerk – junges theater and the German National Theater Weimar are staging productions of Faust.

With our free online courses, students can conveniently start learning about Weimar Classicism in the classroom. This course highlights different perspectives on literature around 1800 through Goethe's Faust.
Here, students get a virtual look inside Goethe's home and his study, where he spent decades writing most of Faust.
With over 21,000 objects and publications, the library's Faust collection is the largest in the world. Parts of it are accessible via the library's digital collections.
