School and preschool

Discover – learn – explore. Weimar is a place of learning that offers visitors numerous opportunities for project-oriented, self-determined discovery and experience.

We invite you and your pupils, preschool groups and course participants from educational organisations to visit our museums and poet residences, explore their creative potential in our workshops, discover our historic parks and gardens, or investigate the treasures of the Goethe- und Schiller-Archive (GSA) and the Herzogin Anna Amalia Bibliothek (HAAB). The programmes focus on how our cultural heritage relates to the lives and experiences of children and adolescents today.

Using various methods and formats, we reflect on and critically examine Weimar’s cultural history. Our programmes include guided tours, workshops, one-day and multiple-day projects and independent field trips.

Please note: Thuringian schools can apply for funding for excursions to extracurricular places of learning in Thuringia. For more information and the respective funding application form, visit the website of the Thuringian Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports: www.tmbjs.de/lernort
