Castles and gardens

The Klassik Stiftung Weimar is comprised of a unique ensemble of cultural and historical landmarks. Eleven of these have been officially recognised as the UNESCO World Heritage Site “Classical Weimar”. This distinction acknowledges Weimar’s great art-historical significance as “an intellectual centre of the late 18th and early 19th century”. Several spacious parks and gardens are part of Weimar’s world cultural heritage, particularly the parks at Belvedere Castle and Tiefurt Mansion.
