The dance continues ...

175 years Friedrich Nietzsche, 20 years Nietzsche-Kolleg.

Philosophy. Performance. Party.

Not only are we celebrating Nietzsche’s 175th anniversary this year, but also the 20th anniversary of the Kolleg Friedrich Nietzsche. Over the past twenty years, the Kolleg has cultivated the legacy of its namesake as a place for “free spirits”. Today it proudly looks back at an eventful history of genuine and unconventional contemplation as it looks forward to discussing Nietzsche’s sometimes more problematic ideas and concepts in the years to come.

Following an afternoon of philosophical reflection, visitors are invited to a performance that plays with words and images. Afterwards, young and old alike can take to the dancefloor and celebrate.

Philosophical exchange of ideas (2 pm – 6.30 pm)

  • - Scarlett Marton (São Paolo): “Women who write books are dangerous. Nietzsche’s critique of women authors”
  • - Sigridur Thorgeirsdottir (Reykjavik): “Nietzsche and masculinities. From war to love.”

Champagne reception (6.30 pm – 8:00 pm)

Performance (8:00 pm – 9:00 pm)

  • Better not to speak
A performance / installation by Victor del Oral (MEXICO)
in collaboration with Willie Gurner (USA)
