The Park Cave reopens with a new exhibition

The exhibition “Park Cave Experience – Through Time and Climate”, located in the tunnels underneath the Park on the Ilm, presents a panorama of 200,000 years of geological and human history. The new permanent exhibition tells the story of the Park Cave, beginning with the first tunnels excavated during the Goethe era. It remained unused and forgotten for decades until World War II, when it served as an air-raid shelter. The Park Cave reopened in 1997, but recently closed due to the pandemic and extensive renovation. Now the Park Cave is open to visitors again with a new exhibition.
