Sonya Schönberger: Goethe’s Potted Plants

presentation

The installation by Sonya Schönberger in the Goethe Gartenhaus features potted plants which were displayed in the rooms of the Goethe Residence until 2023. She uses these plants to artistically explore their past, present and future.

For years the artist Sonya Schönberger has been investigating the potted plants in the Goethe National Museum, their origins, significance and musealisation. Starting in May 2024, visitors can experience an installation in the Goethe Gartenhaus where the artist probes the past, present and future of these mostly overlooked “anarchists” inhabiting the Goethe Residence.
