Nietzsches Music revisited – Jazz and Beyond

The Leipzig pianist, keyboardist, composer and producer Melchior Walther presents arrangements and improvisations of selected compositions by Friedrich Nietzsche and David Bowie, who himself was at times strongly inspired by Nietzsche.

The selection of material is complemented by arrangements of compositions that inspired Nietzsche's lyrical works and philosophical implications. Melchior Walther works as a composer, musical director and stage musician at various theatres and is, among other things, musical director and keyboardist of the band GROUND CONTROL with their concert show "Selected Songs of David Bowie". In 2023, he was a Bauhaus Fellow at the Klassik Stiftung Weimar and dedicated himself to preparing an album production with his jazz trio, which will be released on the occasion of Friedrich Nietzsche's 180th birthday this year. Excerpts from this work will be performed exclusively on this evening in piano solo versions on the historic Van de Velde grand piano in the Nietzsche Archive Weimar.
